At Rogue Valley Fellowship, the neighborhood in which we live and the building in which we operate in are key components to our ministry expression. We believe that we are planted in the neighborhood of southwest Medford to be a faithful presence and a prophetic witness to the Kingdom of God.
We believe this is essentially how Jesus ministered during His time on earth. In John 1:14 we read that, “The word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” (The Message). It is our heart to emulate this type of incarnational ministry, and it is with this philosophy in mind that we have developed our building plan.
Being a faithful presence and a prophetic witness to the Kingdom of God in our neighborhood will take on many forms. To this end we have made plans for our 7,000 square foot building, allowing it to serve a variety of purposes. Our prayer is that this space will tangibly offer care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our community.
The building will contain a large area designated for outreach to the youth of our neighborhood, particularly the students of Central Medford High School. In time we hope to use this space to offer art and music lessons, and one-on-one tutoring. On average 25-30 high school students are on our church grounds and in our offices during breaks and lunches every school day. We’ve developed a lot of close relationships with these kids over the last two years and we believe the completion of Phase 2 will help us to see even more relationships made.
Our planned coffee bar area will be a great point of contact with the surrounding community, an intimate place to have a bible study, and a perfect venue for small concerts. Recently the principal of Central Medford High School reached out to us about using our coffee bar to offer school credits to students for working. The school sees the benefit of their students learning job skills and proper workplace behavior, and we see the value of countless hours of discipleship with these kids.
Our upstairs houses two ministries that are very close to our heart. The upstairs west wing houses Eleos Records, which is the music ministry of RVF. This high-quality recording studio is being used for weekly worship practices and recording many gifted musicians who desire to share the Gospel through song. The upstairs southwest wing houses Helping Hands International, serving as their base of operations for both local and global missionary efforts. These are just a few of the ways we hope to serve our neighborhood. Both of these were completed in Phase 1 of our remodel project.
These are just a few of the ways we hope to serve our neighborhood. We ask that you pray for wisdom as we continue to explore more creative ways to live out the realities of the Kingdom of God.
